  • Our client is an established Hong Kong SFC-licensed asset management firm (Type 1, 4, & 9) since 2022, successfully serving institutional and high-net-worth clients, primarily from Mainland China.
  • They are now strategically expanding by launching a licensed insurance brokerage to meet growing client demand for wealth preservation and legacy planning.
  • The new venture will focus on: Endowment plans, savings plans, ILAS, and key personal GI (medical, critical illness). This will integrate with their existing asset management services for holistic financial solutions.

👤 The Opportunity with Our Client: An Entrepreneurial Powerhouse

  • This is a unique mandate. Our client is looking for a founding Responsible Officer (RO) to build their insurance brokerage from the ground up. You will be the key architect and driver of this new business.
  • Initially, you will operate with significant autonomy, effectively as the “main engine” driving the strategic and operational setup to secure the license and launch the business.
  • Support Structure: You will be supported by 2-3 part-time Technical Representatives (TRs) and benefit from shared back-office resources (admin, IT, etc.) from our client’s group companies.
  • Critical Success Factor: Your ability to leverage your network to establish and, crucially, ensure the retention of strong relationships with insurers throughout the first year of operation is paramount.
  • Our client is currently based in a serviced office in Wan Chai, providing a professional launchpad.

✅ Key Responsibilities (with Our Client):

  • Lead the entire application process for the Insurance Broker Licence from the Insurance Authority (IA).
  • Design and implement the operational and compliance framework for the new insurance brokerage.
  • Initially manage/oversee back-office operations, administration, and marketing, supported by the team.
  • Forge, nurture, and maintain exceptional partnerships with insurance companies. Negotiate quality products and competitive terms.
  • Secure and maintain insurer agreements, ensuring the brokerage can meet the minimal business volume expectations required to retain these partnerships in the first year.
  • Personally serve and build relationships with high-net-worth clients, primarily from Mainland China.
  • Ensure unwavering adherence to all regulatory compliance requirements, managing audits and inspections.
  • Collaborate closely with the client’s asset management team for integrated solutions.

🎯 Candidate Profile We Are Seeking:

  • 5-10 years in the insurance industry, with 3-5 years as a Hong Kong RO.
  • Holder of valid licences: Long Term Insurance, ILAS, GI, MPF.
  • Proven RO track record under Hong Kong IA regulations.
  • Essential: A strong, active network and established relationships with key Hong Kong insurers. Candidates are expected to be able to secure recommendation letters from insurers.
  • In-depth knowledge of endowment/savings plans, ILAS, and personal GI (medical, CI).
  • Successful track record serving Mainland Chinese clients.
  • Solid understanding of IA licensing and compliance.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, proactive, and hands-on.
  • Digital fluency (InsurTech/digital platforms) is a significant plus.
  • Fluent Cantonese, Mandarin, and English (written & spoken).
  • Degree holder. SFC Rep Licence is an advantage. Hong Kong PR preferred.

🎁 What Our Client Offers:

  • Phased Remuneration Structure Reflecting Your Impact:
    • License Application & Setup Phase: Monthly salary of HKD 25,000 – HKD 35,000.
    • Post-Licensing & Operational Phase: Base monthly salary significantly increased to HKD 50,000 – HKD 70,000, PLUS a substantial performance bonus & attractive, negotiable commission (high payout potential 80%+) – directly tied to results and growth.
